How does keyword matching work?
Last updated 1 April 2026
When you paste a job description, RoleGrowth uses AI to extract the most
important skills, technologies, and terms the employer is looking for.
It then compares these against your resume and shows what is missing.
Types of keywords that matter:
- Technical skills: Python, React, SQL, Salesforce
- Soft skills: stakeholder management, cross-functional, agile
- Industry terms: product roadmap, A/B testing, CAC, NPS
- Certifications: PMP, AWS Solutions Architect, CFA
One-click adding: click the plus button on any missing keyword chip.
RoleGrowth adds it to your Skills section automatically.
Only add keywords you actually have.
If you get an interview, you will be tested on them.
RoleGrowth AI will not suggest skills not mentioned anywhere in your resume.
Keywords by industry:
- Tech roles: technical skills are weighted highest
- Product roles: methodology keywords matter most such as agile, OKRs, roadmap
- Sales roles: metrics are critical such as quota, ARR, pipeline
- Design roles: tool names and process terms such as Figma, design systems
